Company Leadership
Steven Vanloffeld is an executive leader focused on helping institutions work more effectively with Indigenous peoples. An Anishinaabe citizen of Saugeen First Nation, he founded INDsight Consulting to support governments, industry, and Indigenous organizations in moving from intent to action—through solutions grounded in Indigenous rights, governance, and measurable impact.
With over 15 years of experience spanning Indigenous governance, public policy, business development, and advisory work, Steven has led and supported cross-sector initiatives at national, regional, and local levels. His portfolio includes work on the Duty to Consult, UN Declaration Act Action Plan, income assistance reform, child welfare transformation, performance measurement, and economic reconciliation. He has advised federal, provincial, and municipal governments, Indigenous governments and organizations, and national associations—delivering strategic guidance on complex mandates with practical, measurable outcomes.
Steven brings both governance and executive experience. As a Band Councillor for Saugeen First Nation, he led initiatives in economic development, health, and education that strengthened self-determination and community capacity. As Executive Director of multiple Indigenous organizations, he helped lead large-scale reforms in child welfare and social services integration.
He holds an MBA and an MA in Indigenous community planning and development. His PhD research focused on Free, Prior, and Informed Consent and nuclear waste disposal in First Nations territories, earning him the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship—a national award recognizing leadership, public engagement, and contributions to pressing policy issues. His work has also been recognized with multiple honours, including Entrepreneur of the Year, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Inclusive Growth Award, and the City of Toronto Indigenous Affairs Award.
